Two events that took place recently were a success. The Fun Run Walk, a first for the Crisis Centre, took place early on Saturday 21st July. About 65 persons participated. Thanks so much to those volunteers who put so much effort into preparing for this event.
The Silent Witness Exhibition took place on Wednesday 25th July in Rawson Square. As well as an exhibition of posters and brochures, t-shirts with short stories of victims of abuse were displayed and several young people braved the hot sun to stand with mouths taped and hands bound to demonstrate the silence kept by many victims of abuse who are too afraid to speak out.
A few MP’s visited and collected packages of information on the Crisis Centre and local residents and tourists alike passed by to buy t-shirts, wrist bands and to collect information on the services we offer. Some wrote messages of Hope on the wooden figures that stood in front of the display.
The next major event to celebrate our 30 years of service to the community will be the Peace Conference in September. Please call the office if you would like to assist with this event.
