Poem on the closing of Knowles House

Empty rooms

Empty rooms where whispers
Of a broken heart once floated.
Where cries released at last
From pent up emotions
Filled the air.
Rooms that epitomised
Love and compassion,
A smiling welcome and a listening ear
For those before unheard.
An old house now discarded
In the name of progress,
Hopefully to rise again
Like a phoenix from the ashes.
The future is unclear but surely
The words “Knowles House”
Will forever generate
Memories of a gentle place,
A place through which angels passed,
But is now just…… empty rooms.
